PLOS is is affiliated to NODA – the National Operatic and Dramatic Association – which represents amateur theatrical societies throughout the UK.  We support NODA’s vision, that amateur theatre should be successful and sustainable, providing a range of opportunities for people to develop their skills and enjoy taking part, at all levels.

NODA supports the education and information needs of individuals and organisations with high quality services and products that contribute to the success of amateur theatre, as well as encouraging appreciation of the sector by participants and audiences alike.

NODA aims to:

  • Give a shared voice to the amateur theatre sector
  • Help amateur societies and individuals achieve the highest standards of best practice and performance
  • Provide leadership and advice to enable the amateur theatre sector to tackle the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century

NODA Awards

Each year NODA holds district and regional awards recognising the best in amateur theatre. All winners of London District Awards are put forward to the Regional Awards later in the year.

Winners of the 2019 London District Awards:

    • The Nigel Gravette Award for Best Performance in a Pantomime – Phil Ruby as Fred Bare in The Emperor’s New Clothes
    • The Constance Power Trophy of Encouragement for PLOS
    • The It’s Behind You Award for Best Pantomime – The Emperor’s New Clothes

Winners of the 2018 London District 3 Awards:

    • The It’s Behind You Award for Best Pantomime – Beauty and the Beast
    • The Nigel Gravette Award for Best Performance in a Pantomime – Harriet Ruby as Malabelle the Evil Witch in Beauty and the Beast

Winners of the 2017 London District Awards:

  • The Charles Sumner Award for Best Male in a Play – Rob Malone as The Waiter in Dinner
  • The Nigel Gravette Award for Best Performance in a Pantomime – Philip Ruby as Little John in Robin Hood
  • The Pat Redhead Award for Best Drama – Dinner
  • The Sybil Conway Award for Best Female in a Play – Nicola Roscoe for Dinner
