We hold auditions for all major roles in our productions and will also ask you to audition if you are interested in being in the ensemble – this is just so our creative team can see what you can do and it won’t impact on your involvement in the show. We hold ‘pre-audition’ rehearsals beforehand and typically for the audition itself you will be asked to learn a simple dance routine, to sing a song from the show and perform a few lines of dialogue from a scene. It always helps us to see how good you are if you are ‘off book’ (have learned everything by heart), but it’s not compulsory!
Auditions are free for all PLOS members. If you are new to PLOS (or if your membership has lapsed) we will ask you to pay a £10 admin charge, which will be deducted from the cost of your membership when you pay your society fees. Please note we are unable to refund the fee if you decide not to join the show.
You will be asked to audition in front of a small panel, typically including the director, choreographer, musical director and a member of the PLOS Committee. All auditions are held individually in private.
Our next auditions will be for Funny Girl, which we’ll be performing at Putney Arts Theatre from 29 May – 1 June 2019.

Rehearsals – When
We usually rehearse on Monday and Thursday evenings from 7.30pm to 10pm. As we get closer to the dates of performance we’ll include some Sunday daytime rehearsals too.
We have two rehearsal venues, in Southfields and in Putney. We rehearse at Ackroydon Hall (Thursdays – Upper Hall), Southfields and Putney Methodist Church (Mondays) and we can often be heard singing halfway down the road!
Off Princes Way
Putney Methodist Church
Ackroydon Hall is a ten minute uphill walk from Southfields Tube station. The 39 and 493 buses both stop on Princes Way, near Montfort Place, a three minute walk from the hall.
Putney Methodist Church
The church is a short walk from Putney Rail and East Putney Tube stations. It is also served by bus routes 14, 39, 85, 93, 337, 424 and 430.
