Footloose Launch Night

Dec 2024

We were absolutely thrilled to welcome so many of you to the Footloose Launch Night on Monday at Putney Methodist Church! It was a fantastic evening, filled with excitement, energy, and a great mix of familiar and new faces.

The event began with a warm introduction from our chairperson, Harriet Ruby. Harriet took a moment to reflect on the incredible journey PLOS has been on over the past couple of years, leading up to this moment—our first musical in six years! It’s been quite a ride, and we’re overjoyed to be back with Footloose as our next big production.

After Harriet’s opening, our creative team took the stage to share their vision for the show. Phoebe Hitt, our Director, gave an insightful overview of what to expect, from the style and tone to what they’ll be looking for in auditions. The team also answered plenty of great questions from the audience, giving everyone a chance to understand how this production is shaping up and what we’ll be working towards together.

Next, it was time for some musical fun. Our assistant music director, Oscar Denihan, led a lively quickfire learning session, teaching everyone the show’s iconic song, Footloose. It was amazing to hear the harmonies coming together already—the enthusiasm in the room was contagious, and we can’t wait to hear more as rehearsals progress!

Of course, no launch night would be complete without a bit of dancing. Emma Crocombe, our choreographer, took us through the audition choreography, combining classic Footloose moves with a fun, country-inspired flair. The energy was electric, and we loved seeing everyone, regardless of experience, getting into the spirit of the show. Emma’s choreography struck the perfect balance of fun and accessibility, ensuring everyone could shine.

With the audition forms now closed, we’re eagerly counting down the days until we kick off this exciting new chapter. After the enthusiasm we saw on Monday night, we know this is going to be a show to remember.

Stay tuned on our socials for more updates, and thank you to everyone who came out—we can’t wait to get started!
